You will join the research team collecting data on a small vessel off southern Portugal. The target species include at 3 species of coastal dolphins, harbor porpoise, and opportunistic data on other marine megafauna.
Your days will include time on land observing local birds and working with a professional photographer to learn how to use your personal DSLR camera.
This project includes instruction for:
· photo Identification studies
· survey method
· wildlife photography
· wildlife ecology
· cetacean behavioral ecology
You will participate in instructor led round table discussions over peer reviewed publications.
This program includes time for visiting local attractions, including castles.
This program is suitable for an internship and follows the format for a university course. MCERC has provided supervised independent study for many of our students. If you plan to apply for university credit with your faculty adviser, please let us know ahead of the program.

The non-refundable program fee includes all curriculum, excursions by boat and land for the data collection and photography lessons, room and meals at the filed house. The program fee does not include travel to and from Albufiera, Portugal.
