You will be provided the parts required to build a drone in a weekend! The instructor will lead you through the process of building a UAS so that you will be able to repeat the steps and begin to customize your own UAS after completion of the class. Please note that the drone will not include a camera for this build.

Dates: Friday, June 22, 2018 (6pm) - Sunday, June 24, 2018 (4pm) in Spring Hill, Florida.

      Registration closes May 24, 2018 for parts to be ordered in time for the class.

Program fee: $650 USD

 The non-refundable program fee includes course curriculum and parts to build a basic drone (there is no camera in this model). The program fee does not include travel to the site, meals or lodging.  Students will be notified of the classroom location in Spring Hill, Florida prior to the start of each session.

 OPEN ENROLLMENTpiloting a drone

You will learn the basics of safely operating a UAS. MCERC faculty members are professional (Part 107 licensed) pilots who fly under the strict regulations of the FAA in the USA. You will learn the difference between flying for hobby and flying for monetary compensation, and a discussion will incorporate a clear understanding of operating as a professional versus flying “hobby”. You will be prepared to fly solo safely in areas that are designed for this purpose.

            An in-depth discussion of FAA regulations is incorporated in to this class and will cover the complexities of flying over areas where local agencies have varying regulations. You will talk about how to address concerns from citizens and law enforcement officers regarding your aerial view and videography. Wildlife regulations, laws, and ethics will be explored.

You will learn advanced flight techniques that enhance the quality of your imagery and make skillful flying a part of your operations. This class will help you to identify and practice maneuvers that will improve data collection and professional flying while making your time “flying hobby” enjoyable. See attached document for details of this class!
